Jerry Wayne Mathews, 70, passed away on August 9. He was born in Sidney Nebraska to Charles and Myra Mae Mathews on November 30, 1946. Growing up in Tyler, Jerry graduated from John Tyler High School in 1965. After High School he worked at a local service station. During his younger years, he spent his free time gathering up bottles for spending money with his trusty dog in tow. His love for animals never dwindled through his life, Jerry will always be remembered for his loving heart towards everyone he came across. In his adult years he could be found with his brothers and friends at race tracks across East Texas. Jerry is preceded in death by his mother and brother James Mathews. He is survived by his father Charles Mathews, twin brother Larry Mathews and his wife Ann, nephew Josh, niece Kelli and great nephew Colton and multiple extended family members. Funeral service for Jerry was held at Tyler Memorial Funeral Home on August 12, at 10:00am, he was laid to rest at Tyler Memorial Cemetery following the funeral.
