Jerry Ward

Classmate Jerry Ward passed away Friday, May 15, 2020 in Tyler. He was born July 27, 1946 in Tyler to David Ward and Julia Taylor Ward.

Jerry was a member of The Woods Baptist where he served for 14 years. He was a member of the Sharon Shrine Temple and a past Master at St. John’s Lodge #53. Jerry graduated from John Tyler High School in 1965 and received an associate’s degree from Tyler Jr. College. He was later drafted in the Air Force. In 1977, he worked as a clerk in the U.S. Post Office in Tyler. During this time, he earned a bachelor’s degree from UT Tyler. He continued to work his way up to Postmaster and retired from the Post Office in Bullard after 38 years.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving family including his wife, Beth Ward; son, Paul Ward and wife Lisa; grandson, Jackson Riley Ward, sister, Barbara Belle Ward Horton and husband Charles; brother-in-law, Paul W. Mayben and wife Susan; and many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service for Jerry Wayne Ward, 73, of Whitehouse will be held on Wednesday, May 20, 2020 at Whitehouse Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. in Whitehouse with Rev. Lon Garrett officiating under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home,

I remember Jerry as always a good guy...I ran into him a time or two after graduation too...He even recognized me a few decades back at one of the Tyler hospitals where my Dad was a patient...RIP, buddy...
