
CARY OWEN DAVIS
July 24, 1947 ~ June 2024
Cary Owen Davis was born in Greenville, Texas on July 24, 1947 to parents Royce and Opal Davis. Cary grew up in Tyler,TX where he met the love of his life, Carolyn Hare, and married her in 1967. Cary worked for Texas Instruments for 42 years, beginning as a technician and advancing to manager of several Research and Development laboratories while earning his Masters in Business Management along the way.
In 1971 he was drafted into the United States Army, where he served in the 3rd Armored Division ending his service in 1973 at the rank of Specialist 5th class.
Later in life Cary taught a Monday Morning Men’s Bible study weekly for 15 years. Cary loved music, learning to play guitar in his teens, and he continued to play in bands throughout his life.
He was a founding member of the New World Pickers, a band he formed with fellow musicians from New World United Methodist Church, as well as a devoted member of the praise and worship band. Second to his love of playing music was teaching it to others, a passion he had from an early age.
He is survived by Carolyn Davis, his wife of 57 years; his son Clinton and wife Janie Davis, children Mariah and Matthew Riskey, and great grandson Cade; Cayden, Grayson and Brynlee; son Cody Davis and Jamie Agee, children Brayden, Landen and Jerico; along with many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents Royce and Opal Davis, and his sister, Priscilla Moore.
