Judy's Obituary
Judy Sharon (Smith) Shamburger, 77, of Tyler, TX went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, August 3, 2024. Visitation and Services will be held on Friday, August 9, 2024, at Pine Springs Baptist Church. Visitation will begin at 10am; Service will start at 11am with Interment to follow the service at Pine Springs Cemetery.
Judy was born in Smith County on May 5, 1947 to Burnace Milton Smith and Marjorie Janice (Hughes) Smith. She grew up in the Pine Springs community and attended Pine Springs School, Roberts Junior High and John Tyler High School. She met Carl Shuford Shamburger, Jr at Belzora where their dads had been fishing friends for many years. They married on June 25, 1967 and were married for 42 years, until his death in 2009.
She was a long-time member of Pine Springs Baptist Church and active in coordinating numerous events through the Pine Springs Community Center. Judy volunteered many years at the Tyler Catholic Schools while her boys were attending school. Her hobbies included cooking, sewing, crafting and playing games. She especially enjoyed hosting her friends for bridge and mahjong. All while working as a court abstractor for over twenty years.
Judy was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her children and grandchildren (that she called “Nana’s Darlins”) were the light of her life. She loved her family and would tell everyone about them and what they were doing.
Judy is preceded in death by her husband Carl and both of her parents. She is survived by sons Matthew Shamburger and wife Judy of Houston and Andrew Shamburger and wife Colleen of McKinney; grandchildren Jason and Jared of Houston, and Luke and Ryan of McKinney; sister Barbara Smith Hendrix of Tyler and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Pallbearers will be her four grandsons along with John Hendrix of Tyler, and Richard Harding of Benchley. Honorary pallbearers will be Tim Harding of Benchley, Mark Thacker of Lindale, Steve Smith of Lindale and Britt Larison of Tyler.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the following organizations: Pine Springs Baptist Church (Women’s Ministry) or Tyler Catholic School Foundation.
